There is a vitamin D supplement that can be given to pregnant women called cholecalciferol. It is still unknown how much of this artificial supplement is needed to achieve the same level of hormonal vitamin D in the bloodstream when compared to the natural supplement. If every woman would take this supplement during their first trimester of pregnancy, the rates of autism may drop. This supplement can be bought at regular pharmacies under the name Vitamin D3 at a low cost. This treatment is for prevention of autism which in turn could reduce the cases and thus diminish the number of children and their families that struggle with the condition. Another new study has found that when an autistic child is placed on a gluten free and casein free diet their behavior and physiological symptoms were improved.   When comparing the proportions of children with gastrointestinal symptoms that are neurotypical and those that are autistic, there is a higher percentage of children with these problems that are also autistic.
